With one of my children it seemed that the antacids helped for a while with the initial pain, but his symptoms were more mild. I would agree that smaller more frequent feedings are easier for the spitty baby to tolerate. It is also helpful to keep your baby upright for sixty minutes after each feed. Some children do really well with this common doctors advice; such children have milder versions of reflux and probably not as much food intolerance. Unfortunatly many doctors don't realize the impact that some advice has on breastfeeding mothers and thier milk supply. Even worse, some doctors believe formula will be easier to digest than what God designed for them--breastmilk, only to find out after they are weaned that they are worse on formula. More and more babies are being seen with "soy/milk" protein intolerance due to doctors switching formula or suggesting women use formula rather than breastfeed. It is sad to see the negative impact this has on babies and mom's.Kristinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17067446970706507141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3004347384734158341.post-81711360180854910842012-07-29T20:13:23.269-06:002012-07-29T20:13:23.269-06:00I sat in office after office as a new mom crying b...I sat in office after office as a new mom crying because nothing kept my baby from crying. I was exhausted after a 3 day induction and, starting when we were trying to leave the hospital, he cried. Every time he was in his car seat, for the entire time he was in the seat. Child had bruises that we couldn't identify so he had a complete x-ray panel done. We finally discovered he refluxed when we laid him on his back and flailed so much on the changing table he was bruising himself. 2mos in he was given the diagnosis of reflux and put on antacids that at least stopped the crying. He still spat up so much that I'd have to change MY clothes almost every time he ate! I was told to not over feed him so I put him on a schedule and my milk supply dove. Switched to formula and he continued to spit up. I was a lucky one...As he got older it went away. But I feel for you and the guilt and worry and sleepless nights. Just make him not hurt!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07742970570097258708noreply@blogger.com
